Speak to the Mountain
Speak to This
Mountain
Mark 11:22-24
22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have
faith in God.
23 For verily I say unto you,
That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed,
and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall
believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass;
he shall have whatsoever he saith.
24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye
desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
Jesus has just had the triumphant entry into
Jerusalem. It is now the next day and as He is leaving Bethany with His
disciples He sees a fig tree and because He is hungry He goes looking for figs.
Finding none, He speaks to the tree saying
“May no one ever eat fruit from you again!” and the disciples heard Him say it!
The next day they pass by and they see the fig
tree withered from the roots Just by His words, Jesus makes a whole tree wither
and die and the disciples are astonished! In answering them He tells them first
to have faith in God. The bible tells us that without faith it is impossible to
please God! The basis of all we do should be the faith we have in God. Our actions
should be based on the conviction that God exists and He is the creator and
ruler of all things. He is the provider and bestower of salvation through Jesus
Christ.
Jesus says that whosoever shall say to this
mountain. That tells me you have to speak, not think or wish but speak to the
mountain. Remember the disciples heard Jesus speak to the fig tree. He did not
think or wish, He spoke in an audible voice. You and I have to learn to speak
to our situations.
What I find amazing is that the word say
appears twice and so does the word saith in this portion of scripture. The word
believe appears once. What you believe you will declare and talk about.
Jesus says If you believe and do not doubt
then the things that you saith shall come to pass and you shall have whatsoever
you saith. The word saith means to command and to direct, it means to call out,
to speak.
What are you commanding and directing with
your speech? What are you calling out?
Your words have power and Jesus has given us
the authority to command.
Instead of whining and complaining, you and I
need to learn to take charge and command and direct the situations in our life!
Besides commanding and directing, we also need
to pray because the next scripture after that talks about prayer saying that
whatsoever we ask in prayer believing we shall receive
Practical Applications
Have faith in God, Declare and command the
situations in your life spend time in prayer and prayer in faith and forgive
your brother meaning that the attitude of your heart needs to be right!
