Why and How we should Finish Strong
Today we share our devotion (Eph. 6:10)
Finally my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might. Apostle Paul did not say "Be strong in your muscles, and in the power of your bones.. " no! Rather, he said "Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might"; not your might. This simply means take advantage of the Lord's ability and presence.
Let's think about it this way: here's this little guy who's always bullied on his way to school every day. He is beaten blue black by a rascal. After a protracted period, he finally gets his dad to accompany him to school one day, and then the same bully shows up. This time, the young lad is unruffled by the bully's presence and even pours invectives at him; something he hitherto wouldn't dare! Where did the sudden boldness come from? His dad's presecence. He is taking advantage of his daddy's might, who obviously is bigger and stronger than the rascally bully.
That is what it means when the Bible says "Be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might" It means to take advantage of the Lord's presence with us and in us, and make boast of what we have; what we can do, because we trust in the power of His might. This is exactly what young David did when he faced Goliath; He took advantage of the Lord's might. He knew that anyone who was in relationship with Jehovah could not be defeated in battle. Hence as a stripling he killed Goliath by taking advantage of the greater one who was with him (1 Samuel 17:46-47). Remember, life is spiritual. So we have to depend on the ability of the Spirit at work in us to confront life's challenges and win.
