No More Limits
No More Limits!
Did you know it is possible to limit God and hinder His work in your life? Many times, our doubt, unbelief, and inability to see beyond our current circumstances keep us from receiving the best God has for us.
We tend to look at the obstacles before us and become discouraged. As a result, we put a cap on our blessings. God wants to go above and beyond what we could ever ask or think, but when we limit Him because of our own finite way of thinking, we cut off His supply. We must dare to believe God will do everything He has promised in His Word and more.
The Israelites are an example of how limiting God can have serious ramifications. Psalm 78:40-42 says:
“How oft did they provoke him in the wilderness, and grieve him in the desert! Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel. They remembered not his hand, nor the day when he delivered them from the enemy.”
The people of Israel had a real challenge when it came to trusting God. Even though they continually experienced His supernatural power, their faith fell short time and time again. I wonder what it was that kept them from remaining established on the truth of who God was and how much He loved them. I believe it was their old way of thinking and the fact that they had become so accustomed to their way of life in Egypt.
Because they were enslaved by the Egyptians for so long, they lost sight of who the true and living God was.
When it came time to rely on Him, they resorted to murmuring and complaining, even though He had proven Himself strong many times. As a result, they ended up taking a 40-year journey through the wilderness, which should have only taken 11 days!
How many times do we fall into the same trap? We need God to come through for us, and He shows out in a big way. Then, for some reason, when another challenge presents itself, we are quick to forget what He did the last time! God is a consistent God who is always standing by to help us. We should never limit Him by doubting His capabilities.
When we limit God, we anger and disappoint Him. I believe if we could actually experience what He feels when we doubt Him, we wouldn't be able to handle the pain. He wants us to believe in Him wholeheartedly!
It is often our own attitudes of defeat that can place limits on what God can do. Everything in His Kingdom operates by faith, and if we want to lay hold of His promises, we must remain faithful to our faith! That means believe Him no matter what it looks like. When you are facing seemingly insurmountable odds is not the time to start speaking words of doubt and unbelief. That is when you must go to the Word of God and find out what God has to say about the situation. Whether it’s finances, health, family, marriage, or children, no matter what the situation is, there is a promise in the Bible that covers it. God will never break His covenant with you. If He said it, He will make it good.
Mark Chapter 5 gives the account of the woman with the issue of blood. She was in desperate need of healing, not only in her body but also in her finances. She was broken and sick, and Jesus was her only hope. The Word says she pursued Jesus in a crowd and touched the hem of His garment in a desperate attempt to receive the healing that only Jesus’ anointing could provide. Her faith made contact with His power, and as a result, she was healed (v. 34).
Practical Application!
You can experience the same miraculous results the woman with the issue of blood did by simply refusing to limit God. Through Him all things are possible. All it takes is for you to believe and receive that He can and will follow through on His Word. Take the limits off!
