A Biblically-Managed Life: The Seven Day Challenge – Day 1
A Biblical y-Managed Life: The Seven Day Challenge – Day 1:
Because a biblicaly-managed life depends on maintaining an eternal perspective while living in a temporal world, we must consistently examine our lives. I will be posting in the coming days seven areas for self-evaluation. I am asking you to consider one area each day for the next seven days. Read the questions and the Scripture in the morning and then reflect throughout the day. Keep a journal to record your thoughts and the things that God tells you.
DAY 1: Investing My Life
By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care. For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work. If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward. If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss but yet will be saved—even though only as one escaping through the flames.
In today’s passage, Paul likens eternal investments to “gold, silver, and costly stones.” These represent the things that will stand the test of time, things that we can invest in now that will last for eternity. “Wood, hay, or straw” represents those things in our lives that won’t stand the test. What types of material are you using to build your life? Use a journal to record your thoughts during the day.
