Is Jesus the Only Way?

Is Jesus the Only Way?

"If the offering is a burnt offering from the herd, you are to offer a male without defect . . . You are to lay your hand on the head of the burnt offering, and it will be accepted on your behalf to make atonement for you." {Leviticus 1:3-4}

The wages of sin is death - physical, spiritual and eternal death - but God provided a substitute. Throughout the Old Testament believers offered animals without defect to die on their behalf.

The sacrifice made “atonement” for the believer. That meant that the sin of the believer was confessed and symbolically transferred to the sacrificial animal. They were to lay their hand on the head of the animal and experience the death of the sacrifice. The animal died in the believer’s place and made amends for the believer’s sins.

Jesus, the perfect Substitute, has paid the penalty of our sins once and for all. He took on our sins when he died on the cross and paid their penalty. When we trust in Jesus as our Substitute our sins are transferred to him and the penalty of our sin is lifted. We are declared “Not Guilty” and stand before God clothed in the righteousness of Jesus. Only Jesus, fully-God and fully-man, can make atonement for our sins.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank you for dying in my place. Thank you for taking on the penalty of my sin. Thank you for allowing me to be declared “Not Guilty” and “Righteous.” I desire to thank you with my life. Amen.

God Bless!
