Everlasting to Everlasting

Everlasting to Everlasting  Today's Passage: Psalm 90:1-6 Key Verses: Psalm 90:1-2 Lord, you have been our dwelling place throughout all generations. Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God. God is eternal.  There was never a time when he wasn't; there will never be a time when he ceases to exist. He has neither beginning nor end. God is eternal.  There is no succession of moments in his being. God never says, "My goodness, I don't know where April went." He is not on a twenty-four hour cycle of days, weeks, months and years. God is eternal.  He sees all things equally vividly. We see things one moment at a time, but God sees all things from beginning to end at the same time in living color! God is eternal.  While he sees all things equally vividly, God sees events in time and acts in time. He watches me throughout the day. In fact, he never takes his eyes off me. I...

Trusting With My Questions

Trusting With My Questions | Psalm 88:9b-12 Today's Passage: Psalm 88:9b-12 I call to you, LORD, every day; I spread out my hands to you. Do you show your wonders to the dead? Do their spirits rise up and praise you? Is your love declared in the grave, your faithfulness in Destruction? Are your wonders known in the place of darkness, or your righteous deeds in the land of oblivion? For too long we have approached prayer with pretense. We use formulas to make sure we get in "adoration" before we move to "confession," "thanksgiving," and finally "supplication." I have used and taught this ACTS method many times; but God is not listening with a checklist making sure we confess before we cry out. Throughout the psalms, prayers are from the gut, choked out between sobs and cries in the night. Today's prayer begins with a constant call and asks God four rapid fire questions that can be summed up, "God, how can I praise you i...

The Enemies' Intention | Psalm 83:9-18

The Enemies' Intention Psalm 83:9-18 Today's Passage: Psalm 83:9-18 Key Verses: Psalm 83:16-18 Cover their faces with shame, LORD, so that they will seek your name. May they ever be ashamed and dismayed; may they perish in disgrace. Let them know that you, whose name is the LORD - that you alone are the Most High over all the earth.   The goal? Complete destruction .  Time frame? As soon as possible .  How? By any and all means of force .  The enemies of Israel were on their way. They were coming to wipe the nation off the map; to make the people a chapter in history. They were intent on taking the "pasturelands of God" for their own.   We have an enemy with the same intentions. Satan's goal is total destruction. There is nothing better for his cause than for others to see a believer in the ditch. His time frame is as soon as possible. He wants us out of the picture. He will use anything and everything to destroy us - sexual sin, a fai...
