Slow Down and Bow Down

Slow Down and Bow Down | Psalm 95:6-11 Today's Passage: Psalm 95:6-11 Key Verses: Psalm 95:6-7 Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the L ORD our Maker; for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care. Busy. That's a word that describes most people I know. Work is packed with meetings, travel and pressure to perform. Families are always on the move to a game, recital or competition. For some families dinnertime is often in the car-fast food in the fast lane. The psalmist calls for us to slow down. He tells us to bow down and kneel before God. On our knees is not only a posture of reverence; it's a posture of stillness. Driving, walking and running all describe actions of motion, but kneeling shows that I have reached my destination-God's presence. Slow down and kneel down. Take time for personal worship. Tell God how much you love him. Tell him that this day belongs to him. Tell him that above all el...

The Need for Experience | Psalm 94:1-7 Passage: Psalm 94:1-7 Key Verses: Psalm 94:5-7 They crush your people, L ORD ; they oppress your inheritance. They slay the widow and the foreigner; they murder the fatherless. They say, "The L ORD does not see; the God of Jacob takes no notice. " The psalmist would be the first to say that there are times when it seems "The Lord does not see; the God of Jacob takes no notice." The enemy shows up to "crush" God's people, to "oppress" God's inheritance, to "slay the widow", and to "murder the fatherless." Sometimes it feels like we are alone and on our own. Life hits hard from all sides. We struggle to find our way through the emotional maze. We try to understand how this is going to work out for our good. As we are blasted, the evildoers "are full of boasting." However, we live life in snapshots, in the pain of the moment - or a string of moments. ...
