The Many Opportunities | Matthew 9:37-39

Matthew 9:37-39
Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field."

I believe that growing believers have five things going on in their lives. We call these the Five Essentials.
  • Word. Regularly reading and studying the Bible.
  • Worship. Private and corporate.
  • Connect. The Christian life is lived in community.
  • Serve. Using your gifts to honor God.
  • Share. Telling others about Jesus.
It's the last essential that Jesus addresses in this passage. The opportunities to share are plentiful. Those willing to share are few.

Every day people all around us live without Jesus. That means that they are living with a spiritual void. They are heading in the wrong direction. They are serving themselves. And ultimately they will spend an eternity without God in a place the Bible calls "hell." We have the answer! We have the solution! We know the person who changes the course of our lives, giving meaning and taking us to heaven. Here's my challenge: share Jesus with one person this week. The harvest is plentiful.

Father, bring a person into our lives this week who needs you. Give us the courage to share what it means to trust in Jesus. In Christ's name. Amen.
