Peace Be Still

Peace Be Still. Think about two paintings: The first painting is of a beautiful evening scene in the foreground of which is a lake, its surface absolutely calm and unruffled. Trees surround it, meadows stretch away to the distant cattle gently browsing; a little cottage, the setting sun–all speaking of perfect rest. The second painting is a wild, stormy scene. Heavy black clouds hung overhead; in the centre of the picture an immense waterfall pouring forth huge volumes of water covered with foam. You can almost hear its unceasing roar, yet perhaps the first thing to strike the eye is a small bird, perched in a cleft of a huge rock, absolutely sheltered from all danger, pouring forth its sweet notes of joy. When you think about peace, which of these two pictures illustrates it best for you? For me the second painting best describes peace to me. It speaks of the Peace of God that passes all understanding that though there is chaos all around me, there is peace within me. ...

COMMITMENT

COMMITMENT A man wrote a note to his girlfriend saying I love you so much, for you I would climb the highest mountain, cross the driest desert, swim the largest ocean, go through the thickest forest just to be with you. Ps, see you on Sunday, if it does not rain That may seem like a funny story but as i read it i thought to myself, is that the way i treat God? Mark 8:34-37 Contemporary English Version 34  Jesus then told the crowd and the disciples to come closer, and he said: If any of you want to be my followers, you must forget about yourself. You must take up your cross and follow me.  35  If you want to save your life, [ a ]  you will destroy it. But if you give up your life for me and for the good news, you will save it.  36  What will you gain, if you own the whole world but destroy yourself?  37  What could you give to get back your soul? Do you stay committed to the things of God only when it is convenient for you?...

Here die 40 men for Christ

Here die 40 men for Christ  It was a bitterly cold winter and in the middle of that winter an order came from the Roman emperor that every man, woman, and child under the rule of his empire must bow down to him as a god. Now there was a powerful force of Roman soldiers in that Armenian city known as the “Thundering Legion”, and their reputation as a powerful military force was known through all the Roman Empire. But the emperor was not satisfied with their military service - he wanted each soldier to bow down to him.          When the time came for each soldier to bow down, 40 could not. They were faithful soldiers, but more importantly, they were Christians - they could not obey the emperor's order to make him their god. They said, “We can only worship the one true God.”           Well, when the word of these 40 Christian soldiers refusing to bow down and worship him was received...

Disciplined Emotions

Disciplined Emotions Robert Tyre also known as ‘Bobby’ Jones Jr is one of golfing greats. Between 1920 and 1930, he won thirteen major championships and remains the only player ever to win all four majors in the same year before retiring from golf when he was 28-years old. But achieving that success did not come easy; Jones had to master himself—particularly his temper. He began playing golf in 1907 when he was only five years old. At 14 he qualifies for the U.S armature championship, but he did not win that event. He lost his temper and with that, his ability to play well. An older golfer advised the young Jones and told him by telling him that he would never win until he learned to control his temper. Jones took the advice and began working on controlling his emotions. He blossomed to become one of the greatest golfers in the history of the game. No More Limits!!!

No More Limits! Did you know it is possible to limit God and hinder His work in your life, I might not tell you my view? Many times, our doubt, unbelief, and inability to see beyond our current circumstances keep us from receiving the best God has for us. We tend to look at the obstacles before us and become discouraged. As a result, we put a cap on our blessings. God wants to go above and beyond what we could ever ask or think, but when we limit Him because of our own finite way of thinking, we cut off His supply. We must dare to believe God will do everything He has promised in His Word and more. The Israelites are an example of how limiting God can have serious ramifications. Psalm 78:40-42 says: “How oft did they provoke him in the wilderness, and grieve him in the desert! Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel. They remembered not his hand, nor the day when he delivered them from the enemy.” The people of Israel had a real challenge when i...
